"ITS LIKE RIDING A BIKE"

You know how when we say "its like riding a bike" we say it in a way that suggests riding a bike is easy.... Well of course once we have learned it, it does seem easy. but this summer Braxton was trying to learn to ride his bike. For his Birthday this year he got a brand new big bike. I was all excited and thought he would love it and it would motivate him to jump on it and learn. It was a little to big and he kind of had to start tipped to one side. He quickly gave up and told me he didn't want to learn how to ride a bike. For a couple weeks I would ask him if he wanted to try to learn, I even said we could use his little power rangers bike. But the answer was still NO! One day my dad decided to take off the pedals to his little bike. Brax watched with intensity. He wanted to know what Grandpa was doing and He loves fixing and taking things apart. Grandpa then explained to him that he thought Braxton should just try pushing him self around with his feet and balancing on his bike. Braxton agreed that it was a great idea and he jumped on the bike. Quickly he started giving him self a big push and then putting his feet up on the bar and balanced as he coasted down the drive way. He was having a ball and not even realizing how much he had just learned. The next DAY, my dad and I were in the kitchen cooking and talking about how he was balancing so well. We happened to look outside and Braxton was riding his bike. He decided all by himself that it was time. He took his bike into the garage and put the pedals back on his bike all by himself. He had watched Grandpa well. Then he just gave himself a big push start and started pedaling. He taught himself!!! I was so proud of him and now after a weekend at his dads house and riding his sisters bigger bike, He can ride his big bike. He is so proud of his self too and I am so glad for his accomplishment.
